It is a true saying that you can meet someone for only a short time and feel as though you've known them for much longer. Such was the case when I met Vickie Fetcher and her loving husband Elder Don Fetcher, at the Church of the Master Reformed Church in America. I'd been one of the supply pastors for the Church for about a year on assigned Sundays. I shall never forget how welcoming the entire congregation made me feel. But, there was something extraordinary about Vickie. She was a very pretty woman and her spirit was as beautiful inside as she was on the outside. Vickie was very open and sharing about her life story and about how much she loved the Lord Jesus, her husband and family, and her church family. I'll always cherish the first time I was invited to visit Vickie and Don's lovely home by the Sound. Vickie didn't know I was coming but graciously welcomed me. She showed me her beautiful garden and the place where she loved to sit and meditate. I could feel the presence of God and love in their home.
On the 1st Anniversary of Vickie's transition to be with the Lord, we are continuing to pray much for Don and Vickie's family members, loved ones and church family members. She shall always be remembered and missed. I'd like to leave Don and their loved ones with this reflection:
V is for her Vivacious spirit
I is for her Inspiration, Joy & Laughter
C is for her Christ-like compassion and character
K is for her Kindness towards loved ones and others--even strangers
I is for her Illuminating smile she always wore
E is for the Eternal life she has inherited through Christ Jesus, her loving Lord and Savior
I and all of Vickie's loving church family members do not say good-bye to you. Instead we'll say so long for now Vickie. For, we believe that we will see you again, and all of our loved ones who've gone on before us, on that Great Getting-up Morning in the Resurrection.
With Heartfelt Sympathy and Love, we remain.
Yours in His Service,
Rev. Dr. Hayden & Family
