About Us

About Us

Schuyler Hill Funeral Home was established in 1956 by Edward F. Noble and his daughter Margaret B. Noble McQuade in the Throggs Neck section of The Bronx.

Edward F. Noble, a retired Pennsylvania Railroad tug boat captain, was also a Licensed New York State Funeral Director in the 1920’s. He was a graduate of Renouard Training School for Embalmers.

Margaret was one of the first women to be a Licensed Embalmer and Funeral Director in both the States of New Jersey (1933) and New York (1934).

Edward and Margaret worked together until his retirement in the early 1960’s, when Margaret became sole proprietor of Schuyler Hill. Margaret's brother, Martin E. Noble, also a New York State Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer, took over as Manager after his father's retirement.

In 1970, Margaret’s son, James E. (Jim) McQuade, became a New York State Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer, after graduating both Iona College and American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Directing. In April of 1971, Jim married Kathleen F.(Kathy) Gow. They had three children, Kathleen Ann (Kathy Ann) born in 1973, James P. (Jay) in 1976 and Jacqueline (Jackie) in 1979. Margaret, Martin and Jim all worked together to develop Schuyler Hill Funeral Home into what it is now.

In 1980, after the passing of Margaret B. Noble McQuade, Jim took over as sole proprietor, and Martin remained on staff as the Manager. Jim’s wife Kathy also became a New York State Licensed Funeral Director in 1987 after attending SUNY Farmingdale.

Kathy Ann became a New York State Licensed Funeral Director in 1998, after graduating from both Fordham University and Nassau Community College. She began the 4th generation of funeral directors in the family before losing her battle with cancer in 2007.

Jackie then entered the family business becoming a New York State Licensed Funeral Director in 2008, after receiving a Master's Degree in Finance from Iona College and graduating Magna Cum Laude from American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service.

In addition to the McQuade family, Jeannine Carbone and Toni Ann Cicalo are NYS Licensed Funeral Directors. Our other staff members include Ann Marie Petersen and Rosemary Matthews.
