Obituary for Stanley McKay

Stanley  McKay
On Tuesday, January 4, 2022, Stanley McKay, loving husband, father of six, and grandfather of nine, passed away at the age of 87.

Stanley was born on December 28, 1934 in the Bronx, New York to Samuel and Louise (Rudolph) McKay. He served in the U.S. Army, and became a firefighter and fire marshal in FDNY. On September 19, 1959, Stanley married Annie O’Rourke. They raised one daughter, Victoria, and five sons, Stan G., Kenneth, Timothy, Stephen, and Richard in the Bronx.

Stanley had a passion for baseball. He was an ardent fan of the New York Yankees. He also loved sailing and biking. For many years, he piloted his boat - the Wind Harp - on the Long Island Sound, and annually participated in the blessing of the fleet at South Minneford Yacht Club on City Island. In his retirement years, Stanley rode his bike daily in Pelham Bay Park after enjoying breakfast with friends and family at local diners.

Stanley is preceded in his death by his son, Timothy. He is survived by his wife, Annie, his five children, Stan (Felisa), Kenneth (Camille), Stephen, Victoria (Hugh) McGuinness, Richard (Laura), Daughter-in-Law, Sandra Fernandez-McKay, and brother Harrison (Dolores) McKay. He is also survived by his nine loving grandchildren, Pilar McKay (Devon Kelly), John McKay, Jaclyn McKay (Will Monkowski), Mary McKay (Daniel Yontz), Jessica McKay, Aidan McGuinness, Thomas McKay, Owen McGuinness, and Emma McGuinness.

Visitation will be held at Schuyler Hill Funeral Home in the Bronx from 2:00PM to 6:00PM on Sunday, January 9, 2022. Stanley will be in his FDNY uniform. A Protestant burial and veteran ceremony will on Monday, January 10, 2022. Donations may be made to the Veterans Home at Montrose, 2090 Albany Post Road, Montrose NY 10548.
