Life Story for Santa Galbo

Santa Galbo, was reunited in Heaven on Monday August 1, 2016, just one day after what would have been her 68th Wedding Anniversary with her husband Salvatore Galbo.
Born in Cerda, Sicily October 9, 1922, Santa was one of 9 children to her parents Francesca and Santo Galbo.
Santa married her husband Salvatore in 1948 and together they moved to the United States in 1950 to begin a new life with their newborn daughter, Enza. Upon coming to the United States they lived in the Bronx, NY then moved to Uniondale, NY before settling in Stamford, CT in 1999. No matter where they lived, Santa always made sure they had beautiful flowers surrounding their loving home.
Her family was her pride and joy and nothing made her happier than having her whole family together. During her beautiful life she enjoyed frequent family trips with all her children and hosted many holiday parties. Her grandchildren will never forget having sleepovers at “Mam’s” house, even during their adulthood. During the holidays, she used to set up their Christmas village that would take up a whole room. Her grandchildren would often sit around the table with her and play her favorite card game 31, and somehow by a stroke of luck, she would always win. She would often knit blankets, for anyone that could use one, even the family pets. Her greatest talent, and one of the things she was most famous for, was baking huge trays of cookies for any wedding, baptism, or party she was invited to. This made her husband a very happy man.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Salvatore, and 3 brothers and 2 sisters (Liborio, Illuminato, Antonino, Giovannina, and Maria) as well as her sisters in law (Nina and Teresa).
She is survived by her three devoted children, whom she loved so dearly, and who were there for her every single day, Vincenza Cassata and her husband, Joseph, Francesca Muscarella, and her husband, Santo and Loreto Galbo, and his wife, Angela.
She is also survived by her “Gioia Mia’s” (her Joy’s). Those are her seven grandchildren; Rosanna O‘Brien and her husband, Rob, Tina McGrath and her husband, Kevin, Paola Muscarella and her Fiancée, John, Santina Kovatch and her husband, Richard, Joseph Muscarella, Santina Jaronko and her husband, Jason, and Salvatore Galbo.
Santa was blessed to have 5 precious Great Grandchildren: Joseph and Sophia O’Brien, Kayla and Julia McGrath and Matthew Kovatch. These great grandchildren brought so much love and joy to her heart.
She is also survived by 2 brothers and a sister who reside in Italy (Pino, Santino and Mimi), her brother -in-law and sister -in- law Santo and Giovanna Galbo of Norwalk CT, Her sister- in- law Angela of Brooklyn, NY, as well as several nieces and nephews both in the USA and Italy.
Santa Galbo will be deeply loved, sorely missed and remembered forever.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at 9:30am at St. Benedict’s Church, Bronx, New York. Interment will follow at St. Raymond’s Cemetery, 2600 Lafayette Avenue, Bronx, New York. Relative and friends may call at the Schuyler Hill Funeral Home, 3635 E. Tremont Avenue, Bronx, New York on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 from 2pm-5pm and from 7pm-9pm.
