I was fortunate enough to know Mrs. Vitti as both an educator and a neighbor.  At PS 72, she was my fifth grade teacher and what I recall most was her ability to command respect while providing a supportive ear to her students, which for me, came at that critical time of transitioning from elementary school to middle school.
