Obituary for John Hammerle

John Albert Hammerle, 93, died at his home in the Bronx, NY on Jan. 28, 2021. Born February 17, 1927 to John Hammerle and Clara Hammerle (Hollenstein), he lived his entire life in his childhood home. He served in the US Army and attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where he received a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering.
John worked as an engineer at several aerospace companies. He was known and loved for his generosity, his positive attitude and dry sense of humor, his cooking skills, and his green thumb. Though he never married, he was close to many family members of all generations and made lifelong friends in his neighborhood and with coworkers. We all admired his ability to maintain his independence until the day he died. He lived life the way he wanted.
He is survived by cousin Trudy Bisbe and many cousins once and twice removed. He was predeceased by his parents, all his other cousins, and several of his cousins’ children.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, September 22, at 10:30 am at St. Raymond’s cemetery in the Bronx.
