George M. Peragine

George M. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Linda M. Peragine, who passed away Nov. 30, 2001.
George was the youngest of six children of Salvatore and Rosaria Carcia Peragine. A veteran of the Korean War, he retired from Citicorp as Vice President of the Financial Investment Group in 1989. He served as director of the Mother Cabrini High School Drum Corps in NYC from September 1991 until the school closed in June 2014.
Affectionately known as “Pepe” or “Handsome Poppi” to his grandchildren, George began playing the fife when he was seven years of age and continued throughout his life until he lost the use of his right hand in 2012.
Throughout his musical career, he served as fife instructor of St. Benedict’s Fife & Drum Corps, the Silver Beach Fife & Drum Corps and the Mount Kisco Fife & Drum Corps; Director of the Edgewater Park Fife & Drum Corps; and a past member of the New York Regimentals, Chippewa, N.Y. Ancients, and The Blue & The Gray Fife & Drum Corps. He was also a past president & judge for the New York State Fife & Drum Association.
An active member of the community in Edgewater Park, where he resided with his wife and children, George served on the board of directors of the Co-Op and was a member and past President in the Edgewater Park Volunteer Fire Department. He was always ready with a smile and a story. His love and gift of music will be remembered by all of the children and adults he taught. He was loved by many and will be missed by all!
Surviving are his daughters, Theresa Peragine, Dominica Keane (Kevin), Jessica Basso (Anthony Sr.), Bettina Corma (Stephen Sr.); and a son, John Peragine; 16 grandchildren, Kristian Flood (Jennifer), Joshua Flood, Andrew Keane (Tina), Georgette Keane, Sean Keane, Elynore Basso, Jessica Basso, Antoinette Basso, Victoria Basso, Nicole Basso, Anthony Basso Jr., Noelle Basso, Stephen Corma Jr. (Courtney), Salvatore Corma, Antonia Corma and Dominic Corma; four great-grandchildren, Victor Flood, Kristen Flood, K.J.
