Emmius R. Bents, 92, of the Bronx, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2023.

He was born to the late Emmius K Bents and Hedwig Schmidt on December 21, 1930, in the Bronx. He married the love of his life, the late Theresa Healy on September 13th, 1958, at St. Pius Church. Emmie is survived by his beloved children Margie (Jim) Codella, Michael Bents, and Mary (Robert) Dorusinec. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Thomas Healy along with five grandchildren; Jimmy, Craig, Robby, Megan and Erin and two great grandchildren, Alessia and Olivia. Emmie was predeceased by his loving son Brian Bents and his siblings August Bents, Richard Bents and Karoline Thomas.
Emmie served in the Army during the Korean War. After his service, he went on to become a skilled draftsman and worked in lower Manhattan for many years creating blueprints by hand for naval battleships. His precision with the pencil led him to have wonderful penmanship and to develop excellence in completing NY Times crossword puzzles.
Emmie will be remembered most as an easy-going man who put family first. Later in life he and Terry loved going places and socializing with friends and family whenever they could. They belonged to several retirement clubs and formed many lasting friendships with their neighbors. Given his German heritage, Emmie loved having a good cold beer at the end of a long day or during special occasions. Emmie will remain forever in our hearts.
