Obituary for Anthony Lama Jr.

Anthony Lama Jr.
Anthony Lama Jr.
April 26, 1930 - May, 20, 2023
Anthony Lama Jr., a devoted family man and generous neighbor, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2023 at the age of 93 in Bronx, New York. Born on April 26, 1930, to Carmela and Anthony Lama Sr., Anthony lived all his days as a proud resident of the Bronx.
In his early years, Anthony served his country in the Navy, demonstrating his commitment to duty and service. However, he was honorably discharged to care for his mother, embodying the deep sense of responsibility and devotion that defined him.
Anthony shared 68 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Mary Lama, caring for her until his final days. Together, they created a warm and nurturing home, raising three children: Diane, Michael, and Camille. Anthony's unconditional love and guidance shaped his children into compassionate and caring individuals.
Professionally, Anthony was a skilled draftsman, utilizing his creativity and attention to detail. His talent and precision were evident in his work, reflecting his meticulous nature and dedication to his craft.
Outside of work, Anthony found solace and joy in nature's simple pleasures. Fishing was one of his favorite pastimes, where he could immerse himself in the tranquility of the water and appreciate the beauty of the outdoors. To say he had a “green thumb” is an understatement. Anthony found great fulfillment in nurturing plants and cultivating a thriving garden at his home in Throggs Neck. He loved to give neighbors and other members of the community tomato plants that he raised from seeds and often watered them on his daily walks. Anthony never missed watching a Yankees game and taught his wife Mary the names of all the players, though he shied away from attending games, claiming he had the best view from his recliner at home.
Anthony's love for his Italian heritage extended to his passion for cuisine, especially his flare for making antipasto! There were many holidays spent around the dining room table with his cousins, aunts, uncles, his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, sharing stories while Frank Sinatra played in the background. He never went anywhere empty-handed, and had the sweetest sweet tooth in our family.
Throughout his life, Anthony exemplified the values of faith, frugality, and an appreciation for life's simple moments with the people he loved. He was a compassionate, dependable man who always put his family first, providing unwavering support and love to those he held dear.
Anthony Lama Jr. leaves behind a legacy of love, selflessness, and the importance of cherishing life's precious moments. Predeceased by his son Michael, survived by his wife Mary, children Diane Judson and Camille Burns, son-in-laws Doug Judson and Raymond Burns, daughter in-law Jenifer Lama, grandson Jonathan Hodges and wife Gabrielle, grand-daughter Erika Broadbent and husband Justin, grandsons Paul Burns and Michael Lama, and great grandchildren Leila, Ezra, and Jack.
He sowed the seeds of morality and generosity, patience and integrity into our lives through his subtle gestures and whispered wisdom. May the roots of his family tree continue to stretch wide and embody his character and strength, and may his soul find eternal peace as he continues to live on in our hearts.
