Obituary for Ruth Woods

Ruth Woods
Ruth Woods (nee Reindl), born on May 30, 1931 in Bronx, New York to Catherine (Kelly) and George Reindl, passed away on August 31 after a brief illness. Ruth is survived by her son, Robert Dalzell, her loving niece, Phyllis Staats, her sister, Dorothy Tierney, brother, George Reindl and many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Predeceasing Ruth were her husband, Harry, and her two sisters, Helen and Kathleen.

Ruth lived in Hartsdale, NY with her niece and caregiver, Phyllis, for the last six years. Although she lived in Hartsdale, Ruth was a Bronx girl at heart. She enjoyed swimming with her sisters and nieces and nephews at the YMCA pool on Castle Hill Avenue. A favorite memory is flying kites at Orchard Beach or Ferry Point Park. She enjoyed dinners at Charlie's Inn and Joe & Joe's. Ruth retired from a long career at Bristol Myers.

St. Patrick's Day was Ruth's favorite holiday. She loved going to Kennedy's in NYC to celebrate and could be found enjoying the parade in Throggs Neck for many years.

During her retirement years, Ruth enjoyed spending her time with her sisters, Dot and Helen, cousin, Theresa, and close friends. They took many trips to Atlantic City and Wildwood and always brought in the New Year together.

Ruth loved reading People magazine, watching Dancing with the Stars and keeping up with all the latest movie star gossip and fashions. She loved Fleet Week and seeing all the sailors walking around Manhattan. She was the life of the party and loved to be around people. She always had a smile on her face. Ruth touched many lives and will truly be missed.
