Catherine Baxter Murphy, R.N. and his youngest son, Terrence Neil Murphy. Bob and his wife
are survived by their daughter, Margaret (Peggy) A. Murphy, and son, Robert E. Murphy, Jr., his
sisters, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews to whom he was much Beloved.

A Lifelong resident of the Bronx he and his siblings Finbarr J. Murphy, Margaret Farrell and
Eileen Breen are the children of Cornelius Murphy and Madge O'Neill Murphy who immigrated
from County Cork Ireland.

Bob graduated from Our Lady of the Assumption Grammar School in 1947, Cardinal Hayes High
School in 1051 and Iona College, ion 1955.

Bob served on the naval destroyer tender USS Shenandoah from 1956 to 1958. He had a
decorated career as a Special Investigator in the Internal Security Division of the Internal
Revenue Service and was an Administrative President of the New York Federal Law
Enforcement Officers Association. After retiring in 1984 from his federal employment he was a:

During his slow decline Bob and his children were deeply moved by the outpouring of support
from his large extended family and even larger circle of friends, neighbors and former
co-workers.

Throughout his life Bob always tried to help others,. In lieu of flowers his children ask that you
donate to Iona College, New Rochelle, NY; Sisters of St. Dominic of Blauvelt, NY; Cardinal
Hayes High School, Bronx, NY, who educated him; or Calvary Hospital, Bronx, NY, who took
such good care of Bob in his last days and where he worked as a volunteer for many years.
