Obituary for Mary Culleton
With sadness, the family of Mary “Inkey” Culleton, 86, announce her death. She was born in NYC, where she lived most of her life and she was recently of River Vale, NJ.
Inkey worked for Teachers College for over 35 years. Although she enjoyed that work, her dream job came when she took her children to the State Theater to see the ballet and was offered a job. Working there allowed her to watch the performances of both the NYC Ballet and Opera companies daily. She worked on the orchestra level where she truly shined among the many celebrities she dealt with. Inkey continued to work there until 2012 and during that time her family and friends were often treated to watch the performances.
She is survived by her children Catherine “Kiki” Culleton, Carole (Thomas) Slattery and Christopher (Suleica) Culleton. Also, much loved grandchildren Amanda(Joseph), Brigid(Jack) and Sean, great grandchildren Emily and Aubrey. Her husband John “Jake” Culleton and daughter Claire pre-deceased her.
She will be dearly missed but will live in our hearts forever especially when we hear the Nutcracker Suite.
Funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday, 11am, December 1st, 2022 at Our Lady of Assumption Church in the Bronx.
