Obituary for Marlene Taffe

Marlene Renzulli Taffe (nee Flattery), 87, a lifelong resident of Edgewater Park, Bronx, NY passed away on August 24, 2023, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Marlene was born in the Bronx on June 21, 1936, to Josephine Kenny. A proud graduate of Monroe High School, Marlene embarked on a lifetime of varied work that she enjoyed and brought joy to. A jack of all trades, she was a car hop (yes, on roller skates!) for White Castle, a real estate agent, a toll taker, a check cashing clerk and found her career as a bank teller where she worked (in the Bronx) for over 30 years. There she befriended all the local business owners and counted money at lightning speed.
Marlene married Natale Renzulli (deceased) and they had two children, John and Chris, who they adored. Marlene and Natale divorced but remained friends. Marlene later married Thomas Taffe (deceased) and blended their families, making Marlene the proud mother of Susan, Karen, and Carol. Marlene and Thomas had a son, Thomas – completing the “Yours, Mine and Ours” family. Marlene and Thomas divorced many years later.
Marlene retired and enjoyed the rest of her life doing what she loved most: spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and life-long friends, including Sondra, Angela, Carol and Dolores. She was an avid reader, enjoyed dancing, watching classic movies, singing show tunes, songs by Barbara Streisand, vintage country and western music and shopping for gifts for her family- single handedly keeping QVC and HSN in business.
Marlene was predeceased by her mother, Josephine Kenny, brother Hubert Flattery, sisters Charlotte Flattery and Eleanor Valenza. Marlene is survived by her sons John Renzulli (Lisa), Christopher Renzulli (Kristen), and Thomas Taffe (Victoria), daughters Susan Bligh (Michael), Karen Livingston (Robert), and Carol DeCuffa (John), fourteen grandchildren: Leigh Ann, Jonathan, Ryan, Nicole, Brielle, Beth Ann, Michael, Amanda, Robert, John Ryan, Jackie, Joshua, Julia and Lila, and four great grandchildren: Anthony, Kayla, Grayson and Jack. She will be sorely missed and forever in our hearts.
