Obituary for Lorraine Castle

Lorraine Castle
It was according to God’s will that our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Lorraine Castle departed this world on Monday night, February 22, 2021. Lorraine passed away after a gradual decline in her health. She was 89 years of age.
Lorraine was born the tenth of thirteen children to Thaddeus Riddick and Ruth Riddick. She was born on Wednesday, July 8th, 1931, in Gatesville North Carolina. She was noticeably a natural beauty.

Lorraine accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age. She was baptized at New Hope Baptist Church in Gatesville. Here she learned the tenets of the faith that would sustain her throughout her nearly ninety years of life.
Lorraine received her primary education in the Gates County School system. Later she continued her education in New York City.

Upon first meeting her, a person could not help but notice Lorraine’s physical beauty. But Lorraine was more than this. She was intelligent, hardworking and outspoken. These traits made her a natural leader. She was diligent in her efforts and worked tirelessly for over fifty years at the New York City Department of Education.
At home Lorraine worked even harder instilling a sense of purpose in each of her four children. She was instrumental in encouraging them to educate themselves and strive for success.

Mrs. Castle is survived by her daughter Guerlain, her sons Clarence Jr., Oliver and Anthony. Her four grandchildren – Faith, Grace, Matthew and Ashley. Her great- granddaughter Imani. Numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great nieces and great- great nephews, great-great- great nieces and great-great-great nephews.

She is predeceased by her mother and father, her sisters Mable Riddick, Doris Moore, Ruth Gravely and Albetha Riddick. Her brothers Bedford Riddick, Pilston Riddick, Thaddeus Riddick Jr., Bridgette Riddick, Parker Riddick, Corbell Riddick, Thomas Calvin Riddick and Cooper Riddick.

God gives us grace and beauty.
But most of all mercy to live and
run the race set before us!
He calls us home to his love,
rest and eternal care!
Thank you, Father God for
Lorraine’s life.
