Hughie was a popular, bigger than life, legendary Throggs Neck character who was beloved for his kindness, joy of life and his sense of humor. Hughie never took himself too seriously and he usually didn't have any inhibitions when he was in front of a crowd. Hughie was heroically a Navy Veteran and retired NYPD Officer.

Hughie was predeceased by his beloved wife Mary and is survived by his cherished children, Eileen, Kelly, (John), Mary Ellen (Dino) and Erin; and adored grandchildren Stephen, Dylan, Amanda, Avery, Kayla, Sophia, Bryce, Nicholas, Jake and Antonio.
