Obituary for Hugh J. Ferry

Hugh J. (Hughie) Ferry, 75, passed away at home on Monday June 3 in the Throggs Neck section of the Bronx.

Hughie was born and raised in the Bronx and lived for many years in the Castle Hill Avenue section and
later in the Throggs Neck section of the Bronx.

Hughie served proudly in the United States Army in the Vietnam era, serving at postings including bases stateside and abroad in Germany. After his military service, Hughie went to work at New York Life Insurance Headquarters in Manhattan, working as an electrician's helper. Hughie was unfailingly loyal to his coworkers and bosses and worked at New York Life for over 35 years before retiring.

Hughie faithfully cared for his father (Jimmy) and mother (Annie) with whom he lived and also traveled with them many times to Florida, Lancaster County (PA), Long Beach Island (NJ) and Ireland.

Hughie is remembered fondly for his love and intellectual capacity for all things related to maps, to railroads and trains, and to transportation.

Hughie is the beloved son of the late Jimmy and the late Annie Ferry, both of whom were immigrants from Donegal, Ireland. He is the beloved younger brother of Pat Ferry (Wife, Eileen) of Mahwah, New Jersey and the beloved elder brother of James Ferry (FDNY Retired) of Bronx, NY. He was the beloved uncle to the Father Jim Ferry of West Orange, NJ, to Patrick and Julinana Ferry of Los Angeles, Mike and Jaime Ferry of Hawthorne, NJ, and Kristen and and Jeff Kimmel of Melrose, Massachusetts.

Hughie is the beloved nephew of the late Edward and late Mamie Macken.

Hughie is the beloved cousin to Kathleen (nee Macken) Petrelli and her husband, Johnny Petrelli.Hughie is the beloved cousin to the late Ann (nee Macken) Delucia and her late husband, Richard Delucia. Hughie is the beloved cousin to Mary (nee Macken) Scelsi and her husband, Vincent Scelsi. Hughie is the beloved cousin to Eileen (nee Macken) Barone and to her late husband, Al Barone; Hughie is the beloved cousin to Marcella Macken and to her late husband, Hugh Macken.

Hughie also had 10 great nieces and great nephews and many friends.
