Francis J. Lyons “Frank”, 90, of The Bronx, passed away on January 12, 2019. Born November 19, 1928 in The Bronx, NY, he was a son of the late John and Bridget “Tessie” McDermott Lyons.
Frank was a graduate of Cardinal Hayes High School and Queens College. He was a United States Marine Corp veteran and served honorably as a Corporal. Frank was a member of the NYPD for 33 years and retired at the rank of full Inspector. He loved “the job”. However, his greatest love was his Dolly…his soulmate of 68 years. They were an enduring love story. The love he had for his family was immeasurable and he was adored and held as a hero and role model by each and every one of them. He is survived by his wife Dolly “Eleanor DeCola”, son Bob and his wife Liz, son Bill and his wife Laura, daughters Terri and Linda, and son John. Grandchildren Jennifer and her husband Bryan, Stephanie and her husband Dan, Amanda and her husband Frank, Kristina, Greg, Marisa and her husband Danny, Frank, John and Catie. Great grandchildren Makayla, Finn, Leo and Ty. He also is survived by his brother Jerry, sister Ann, and predeceased by his brother Jack. A full life so well lived and a man so well loved. He will be missed terribly by all that had the great honor to know and love Frank Lyons
