Eulogio "Tony" Bonano Jr.
Eulogio Bonano (Tony) was born in Luquillo Puerto Rico on January 4th 1934. His parents were Eulogio (Payoyo) Bonano and Ramona Rivera. They arrived in New York in 1939.

Tony was raised in Manhattan and subsequently moved to the Bronx He graduated from Bronx Vocational High School in June of 1951. Tony enlisted in the US Navy on November 13th 1951, and was in active duty from November 5th 1952 to September 7th 1954. During that time he was promoted to Seaman.

Tony met the love of his life Vivian Altagracia Perdomo in 1954 and they married on January 25th 1958.

Searching for employment, his prospective employers were not offering him a salary that was competitive with the stipend he would receive under the GI bill to pursue his studies. It was than that Tony decided that, with the assistance of his wife, he would go back to school.

Tony went to school from 1958 to 1970 without missing a semester. He earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Mathematics, and three post graduate degrees, Master of Science in Physics, Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, and a Master of Arts in Education.

In addition to his academic accomplishments Tony was constantly pursuing excellence in everything he did. He was a weightlifter, benching over 315 lbs. and appeared on the Steve Allen show. In May of 1967 he was granted his Airman Certificate AKA Pilot’s License. He loved photography and became an excellent photographer and photographed many weddings but would never accept a penny for his services including delivering the pictures in an album. Tony was interested in finance and became an excellent financial planner and advisor. He pursued running and was instrumental in creating the Bronx Road Runners club and at the height of his running career he completed the NYC marathon. Tony’s greatest passion was golfing, and he won two tournaments. During his retirement he enjoyed golfing four to five times a week.

Tony brought the same level of dedication and devotion to his wife, 3 children (Steven, Lisa and Baby Tony) siblings (Gabe, Eugene, Ramona and Papo) in-laws (Diana, Joe, Jose, Miguel, Ruthy, Nilsa, and Mercedes) and countless nieces, nephews and friends.

Tony was a model husband and father always taking care of his family. He never missed a swim meet, track meet or graduation ceremony. Tony was a father figure, math tutor, financial planner, and golf instructor to many friends and family. He had a profound influence on their lives and career paths and to date is the recipient of their endless gratitude. There was no favor too big or too small that he wouldn’t do for his friends, their children and his family. He was a man of his word and will be sorely missed.

Tony is survived by his wife Vivian, daughter Lisa and son Tony.
