Obituary for Carmelia Ramftl

Carmelia A. Ramftl (nee Molinari) died at the age of 97.
Carmelia was born on July 18, 1926 in the Fordham Section of the Bronx, the second of four children. She attended Our lady of Mercy Grammar School and St. Simon Stock High School. . Carmelia spent many happy Summers as a child in Oneonta, NY with her extended family
She married Francis “Frank” Ramftl in August of 1948 and had 3 children. Carmelia held many secretarial positions over the years including with McGraw Hill Publishing Co. and retired as Administrative Assistant to the corporate counsel of Joseph E. Seagram’s & Sons liquor company.
Carmelia moved to City Island in July of 1976 where she quickly made many friends. After retirement she became involved in various local organizations. She served as 1st VP of AARP Chapter #318, Chaplain of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit#156, member of the Garden Club and member of St. Mary's Star of the Sea Church, volunteering at the church's thrift shop. Carmelia was an avid reader spending many hours at the City island Library and also enjoyed crocheting, donating crochet afghans to Calvary Hospital.
Carmelia was predeceased by her husband Frank, her sister Veronica Mennona, and brothers Peter and Joseph Molinari as well as her son Frederick Ramftl, Sr. Carmelia is survived by her two daughters Angela and husband Angelo Alecea of New Rochelle and Diane Ramftl of Atlantic City, NJ, daughter-in-law Joan Ramftl. grandsons Fred Jr. and Frank, and 4 great grandchildren: Gianna, Georgina, Frankie Jr. and Ricky, several nieces and nephews and cousins. She is also survived by her longtime guardian, friend and angel Indra Peters.
