Obituary for Antonio Polcini (February 24,1934- June 13, 2019)
Antonio Polcini passed away peacefully at the age of 85, on June 13th, 2019 in Jack D. Weiler Hospital of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in The Bronx, New York.
Antonio Polcini was born on February 24th, 1934 in the Decorata section of Colle Sannita in the Province of Benevento, Italy to parents Pasquale Polcini and Pasqualina Pozzuto. He was the middle child of three siblings, Maria Polcini and Abbondanza (Polcini) Piacquadio. Husband to Pasqualina (Moffa) Polcini, and father to Maria Stanco (Tony Stanco), Antoinette Fierro (Tony Fierro), and Pasquale Polcini (Michelle Santo). He was a grandfather to Angelo Stanco (Julia Gostomski), Anthony Stanco, Ashley Fierro, Melissa Fierro, and Nicholas Polcini; and great grandfather to Sofia, Olivia and Julian Stanco.
He went to school from the age of six until third grade, then he began helping his parents by working on the farm until the age of twenty.
In January 1955, he emigrated to America at the age of twenty with his father where he went to live with his Uncle Damiano in the south portion of the Bronx, NY. In New York he performed various types of work, such as factory and construction work.
At the age of 25, he went back to Italy to marry his wife Pasqualina on September 27th, 1959 in the town of Riccia province of Campobasso, Italy. After fifteen months of being married, his wife Pasqualina was able to join him in America and they continued living in the South Bronx until he bought a house in 1966 and moved his family to the Pelham Bay section of the Bronx.
At age 30, he got a job at Con Edison where he worked as a gas mechanic until he retired at the age of 58. After retirement, he kept busy working on various projects inside the house and in the yard, in addition to spending time with his family. He lived in the Pelham Bay section of the Bronx for the remainder of his life.
He was a very proud man who loved his family very much. He was loyal, honest, respectful, and hardworking and is now in a better place. He is survived by his wife Pasqualina, son Pasquale, daughters Maria and Antoinette; daughter-in-law Michelle, sons-in-law, Tony S. and Tony F.; Grand Children, Angelo, Julia, Anthony, Ashley, Melissa and Nicky and great-grandchildren, Sofia, Olivia and Julian.
