Obituary for Alvin J. Cameron

Alvin J. Cameron
Alvin James Cameron was born to Nellie Margaret Weber and James Patrick Cameron in the Bronx, NY on September 17, 1925. The Cameron Coat of Arms stands for God and Country, like his Coat of Arms, Alvin J Cameron was a true follower of Christ and a true patriot. He always put his family first and his undying love for his wife and daughters and granddaughter is ever present.

When Alvin was still a teen at age 17, he enlisted in the US Navy. He served his country in both World War II and the Korean War. He proudly served along with the “Greatest Generation” of our times.

Alvin showed his dedication in many ways, one of which was his 40 years working as a photographer for the US Army Corp of Engineers. It is there that he met his beautiful wife Ramona Marrero and married her in 1958. Nona was the spark to his life. They have two daughters, Valerie Guagliano and Vivian Gallo. Alvin loved sharing a glass of good wine with his son in laws Angelo Guagliano and Anthony Gallo. Alvin has one grandchild Ava Gallo who he loved dearly, he enjoyed belting out in song to sing along with her and he comically echoed every noise she made around the house during vocal warmups.

He was a true historian and naturally he had this knowledge from living history for the past 95 years. He watched the ever-active changes in technology with the first television appearing on his 3rd birthday all the way to the handheld device that let us see and speak to him on Facetime during the last few days in rehabilitation. He marveled at the progress.

Alvin enjoyed spending time reading the newspaper and reading National Geographic. He did “word find” puzzles but truly enjoyed looking out the window searching for where the sun was so he could go sit outside and enjoy the rays. He loved bird watching and kept his camera ready in hand to take a picture when the hummingbirds came by. He loved the beautiful nature around us. He enjoyed dancing and singing and to share his time with family and friends.
